You know a. Playing -- a fly ball -- center field racing back Bradley. On the track he's very elite. He slams and oh. He was -- balance you know make an acrobatic play on him. The -- Ohio won't risk had a candy balls that end on a warning track. Eighty feet away. And out of play -- -- he's having his superb. Defensive day. The Red Sox would be without him today a lot of great play that's the best that you've made with the Red Sox. And since then. -- ovation. Was standing all by the Fenway faithful as it comes on the diamond we go to the bottom of the ninth still tied 66. We expect to hear Jackie Bradley junior shortly here. Careless and the game and Shaw's star market that we are Sox radio network White Sox and Red Sox tonight smoke -- game -- and play by play Red Sox. And White Sox we were looking guys during the commercial break with the Prince Fielder yes and the body magazine photos. Pro now we might. -- reward people about the student went. We said that he was going to be part of BS in the dust. And with all the ballyhoo about who was -- -- the best naked I was far more concerned it was the worst in -- runaway win for -- -- -- to keep my daddy -- was Cecil. Old though. He's fit for the field for him. I can strong guys and at -- -- -- done with this delegates he's -- -- body issue they're just going to just -- jump the shark I mean you look at -- hot chicks. Volleyball players skiers people -- bundled up during the winner -- the event that don't rip down you know Prince Fielder or to be a -- he'd be -- ball all that would be the only constant he could fit into and just when that acts in -- WE I did a hotline we go right now welcome Jackie Bradley junior to the program as promised Red Sox center -- hijacking -- -- There stereo -- Jackie we're gonna see you in the body issue anytime soon. Adidas you have ESP your body issue and they're all like -- did -- -- -- that he has been a magazine issue look around the clubhouse at all. No I haven't seen her annual Ohio drive if you do -- probably best that you don't based on what we just -- drills a -- exactly. The big boys but -- They'd Jack you less though just look at last couple weeks and last fourteen games. You're -- -- 304 and -- aren't talked to lobby yesterday about. Maybe some of that difference you kind of look back to an old school open stance that you at the head earlier in your career in a minor league just talk a ball. What you know what that does for you when Weis went light switch in the first place. -- for me it's. You know it's comfortable I'm at the open although the cut it to two and that initial salute. What's more. There are yet. Not sure what it purse and now those more or direction. It just a -- where the ball. And get it there on Apollo longer but -- -- -- that I'll bet that when it backed up hurting you on it that way and you drop it. You know how does it allow you now to to get that ball bettors because when Europe. You at the closed up in you're comfortable it's your first move that was kind of the pullout or our our. So aptly at least thought at least at that we will. And old enough -- But it it secure my. Ultimate so. Allowed eight. It'll be him in their -- but I mean -- -- -- well -- thought that. Jack you insofar auditors say you felt lost up there at times when did you start to find yourself. Mentally as well as some of the physical adjustments you're talking about make -- when you start to find yourself mentally in. How are -- able to persevere through all the bad times to start to find yourself here coming up on the halfway point a little bit better. May have are -- both pretty much are there I hate it pound it. Could get a look at nearly. Also -- oh hole. Plant -- -- -- that they don't get a result that I wanted he would. And it. There's not a result he -- -- it it though. If you don't make an adept at our Heatley were added. And out and Heatley -- on our group I guess our -- Being. Are all. Have you -- Zander had any conversations about him trying to plowed through some of the same issues right now. I'm no not personally. He wanted to be anywhere but I'm not here -- I -- it. Not really much talking (%expletive) in Butte. I got it up well. Finally get no result it out being the slate belt are. Talked to Jackie Bradley junior center -- through Boston Red Sox Jackie. Have you clocked at a forty -- -- trying to figure out how fast you mark. -- So if you had to run a forty take a hot -- hitting the road -- India for six or seven. Sure a dork yeah this I guess I guess my I guess my point is that at your beast out there in center field and I don't know you just tip your fast or just have a knack for knowing. Where the ball's going to go getting an -- on before it leads the bat. And you adjust so well in the air just like a wide receiver would you know catching a football so I guess. I guess what does that come from is that something that you work on to something that you're seeing you study the batter that just a god given gift. Com bad economic they have not speak or act as a sure. -- -- -- -- A little bit of both that it hit a upped the work at a not and I -- Started yelling hey I'm her out eight or eight promise I'll work on -- not looking at the ball. Aram locked up the bat on you know -- at eight where they might -- And just need to work on an I beat you your ilk like where -- I'm doing your back and it at the ball it hit -- direct it if it actually and I'm. -- like. A big. Help. But I mean a -- -- more on early. I really enjoyed it challenge you. Ryan and make a great catch. -- -- last year kind of -- up and down a couple different occasions now this year it's been pretty steady for you since day one out there playing every day. What what are some of the things that you kinda thought about be an everyday player in the big leagues and some of the realities of what it's really like the you've learned. I'm not. The grind. Every single day. The schedule. -- appear to play every day. Know that I mean that's something now that a particular are only well you know when they're a big. But you sound like a call -- post. I'm a little pepper I'll. But it's something you get used to on the market -- explain. One angry static. Jackie Bradley junior -- and WE IEI mean days with an FB some first last sixteen at a five game hitting streak right now. -- Red Sox -- one thing that Krista was asking about was about your speed. -- what really made my eyes pop watching you on a regular basis now is your arm I knew you had the ability to track the ball -- you you're good with the glove. In center field I guess I didn't know exactly how strong your arm was until I've seen in person now. What did you realize that that was a real tool real gift that you had your Arsenal. When I was younger or. Probably. Well -- though. Think about it I really long arms so maybe that. Attribute that I don't know about -- that will meet -- ago back in. Though I get the little. -- -- agree you're aware that. There for a crown might have. In my car -- But you know something now my only regret after I get another back in ability I always like a lot. -- drinking in my arm. Something I enjoy it. Well it. Keep. -- what's it like for you in the -- there was some of the guys in a different year -- best recently called up you know Santa -- -- the kind of guys you kind of came up a little bit to the system played together. In a -- at times. How is a benefit for you guys as far as being up there and out together and talking about this experience. On the if that was pretty cool I'm on new -- you're lucky thing here. But we never really got played each other we did actually. We're roommate and opt in Europe are attractive. And in it that pretty much our first round play together -- I am -- Where are a lot of first being a part. It was Bogart and worked worked and where -- What would without it well. But it and it it would seem that the guys. You. Grounded out with -- you know moderately out there as well I don't. You know I think at that sent the puck on net but you know we know we always. From where -- -- -- feet are greatly careers. So we're -- -- -- work and art at stake here are eight the beat. I Jackie so -- quickly the you know I'd Jon Lester his contract has been an issue since spring training hasn't been resolved yet and and obviously David Ortiz is always a lightning rod for conversation especially here. And the radio market. How that affected. The locker how that affected you guys as far as are you guys discussing it is become an issue few guys is anyone you don't reach out to. Ortiz to asked him and ask him to. Maybe you know -- cool it a little bit you heard it -- you have any have you seen anything like that. -- me. Guys have a good gap -- too young to get it and they're about. Hi you're too -- they're Smart Smart and -- -- could. After this and I'm just in my corner but I did. Beat some of the lineup unit is not a strata ball. Yeah how as a man all you guys this year almost in the years not going the way you expected in a lot of it the only look at the offense and in where you guys are as far as put runs up. How frustrating is that -- receive the rookie comes up and he surrounded by a lineup that's outstanding you know I can sit -- nine all the kind of get to that griner learned some things but as a team. You're -- does that make it that much harder. On you a young player. I'm. Not that they think that I am not old at it that we pressuring. Because. Or not -- wanna Bieber so why. Oh what we've been. Playing a work and the result Israel and I'm -- don't. You know what it it would it's. Or really big situation. Oh only to shoot a pretty much right at somebody or something. But I mean Doug has been hurt a game -- your street. So you know we're just hoping that we you're right street. And it and it then. Jackie Tex -- gone and congratulations on the recent improvements -- and hopefully continues for you we appreciate you take some time to join us here WEEI. It broke right that is Jackie Bradley junior center fielder. For the Boston Red Sox in these disease if you were you repeated and you know how old he was. Based on his voice how all the things you guys. 1817. I mean he's just out like a baby he's -- Kitt does but they when he when he talked to -- this one at things that people really loved the bottom two years gold spring training. Very mature. Every as far as our answer to what -- they -- both question does the instincts you know in center field. On the base -- you know he's he's instinctual player you know. It is -- at the blazing speed of people thought these Bolick Ellsbury you know that was wrong is not. But he has thrown off because he knows winter is a good -- six on base best in center field. I take it. If he does a win gold glove. I don't know who showed it to be honest I don't as the arm right now I have I have absolutely no idea who played a better center field defensively. The -- the sport. And if you're looking at a bright side if you look about what's fun to watch and he's fun to watch he's entertaining I pipe break for the ball the somewhere and this and to center field and I don't want to be an easy hit I want to be hard what he's got to get on his horse and -- -- Make you catch like he did the other day. The ball's going up but he's got to adjust his body. Mid flight and tracked and -- it come down to hit the ball but that's the that's stuff but Alex. Yeah it'd thing offensively what he's done the last fourteen games over 300 and that's what you kind of looking for -- his defense -- -- -- if they -- Be an everyday player you know maybe doesn't hit 300 you know beat but we look at the offense recently. And I talked him yes before the game and Victor Rodriguez in coach and it talked level was open stance now honestly didn't mightily to be successful. And early struggles in the big league -- to close it up and maybe straighten it out a little bit the problem is it your whole life when you have an open stance. In year used to kind of striding in to close it out to used to always striding in. When you square off your stance old habits -- your strategy even more. You know it means so and you close yourself off even more. And that first reaction is that shoulder -- -- bailout as you think you get beat every single time which is what we saw from Jackie for the most part his big league career. Now recently last three weeks. He's gone back to what he's comfortable with that I asked why GB switching in which it every sick he was suggested and is likely you'll learn. Well -- hitters always go back to what they're most comfortable with when they were successful. -- he's finally gone back to open stance and maybe we'll start to see the hitter is. It reached before that you're like I'm a little to -- can do it. But he looks so much better at that open stance -- to assuming more pitches and it was before. Upon further review concludes the -- we come back down through seven W yeah.

Particularly in a year where the Red Sox have struggled while trying to integrate numerous young players into regular big league roles, accusations that Red Sox prospects are overrated -- whether by the team or writers -- have been widespread. Jim Callis of MLB.com joins the show to take stock of the matter, and to discuss the team-building impact of overrating and underrating prospects.
With the trade deadline looming, the next few days will be defined by how teams value prospects -- and their potential long-term contributions -- against big leaguers with established track records who can address immediate needs. Are prospects being valued accurately? Red Sox left-hander Andrew Miller -- once one of the two key chips that sent Miguel Cabrera from the Marlins to the Tigers -- assesses the matter.
A compelling case can be made that July 24, 2004, represents as significant a landmark as any date in modern Red Sox history. On that day, a memorable brawl between the Red Sox and Yankees served as a catalyst for an epic 10-9 walkoff victory for the Red Sox over New York and indomitable closer Mariano Rivera, a game cited by many members of the 2004 team as pivotal in Boston's first championship run in 86 years. Ian Browne, who covers the Red Sox for MLB.com and authored Idiots Revisited, discusses the landmark game.
