Dennis and Callahan. 6177797937. Joining us on the AT&T hotline the nation's fastest and now most reliable -- LTE network the past the -- pumped for chief from Sports Illustrated good morning Tom how are you. Out there aren't aren't doing very well I gotta give credit right off the top I'm reading the crazy classic. Sports Illustrated with the extra obstruction play about to happen on the front. You did not do the obligatory and then this happens and then that happened and then this happened and then this happened. You went outside the blocks off the reservation with your bonus batter. Idea what has been the blow back other than that to general managers and the two teams in the World Series in spot in response to your idea about the -- batter. Diablo. -- how many people like it. Cook. -- I -- like your hundred people want your more and people really intricate and actually it was one Professional League. Back at me about Utley adopt it and actually work. The ball I think it definitely it will picky about what they thought into tomorrow night. Does it seem like a stretch that they would actually do it Tom because they -- even endorsed the rules that are in place to speed the game up at something less than three hours and 37 minutes things that are already in place. My guess is that but is wringing his hands worried about expanded replay next year this would be completely. You know from outer space for this guy. You know I totally agree that that's why they -- at the time expired and jagr that day. I feel like to see that game really my -- But I do think it's important that. He didn't figure that can't say -- out well baseball change especially for taking everything that. Don't read -- about an Olympic all people talk about it. I am and I think he added an extra pressure I think that -- double fault them. That Bud Selig try to tackle something like that last piece that. Whose idea is it Tommy taken credit for this to recall at different Gucci rule. And it's taking credit young apparently kicked well I didn't about it Peta and you've got the call that put clock under -- it. And things like that I really think what -- think it was that the people wanna hear about players. Essentially get the ball and had the best moment that obviously Abdullah -- -- about -- -- and it. Rarely happens like -- -- got that article that many times he's walked intentionally or extra round. Well I thought -- -- get people to the plate when he he pitched it can't. Haven't got a great strategy what do you -- you have at all in the third I think it's gonna be here. You've got in particular about the bases loaded about it waiting for the ninth inning. He's got bullet that's not really like about it is to create another level strategy yet. I think it's great for the fans I think managers that -- -- because -- -- that you can't let. -- but I picked up again create potential record the game about being fired that -- I'd I'd love -- Tom and I love the fact that you introduced it on on this day in the World Series story. Any thing you did in this story was point out that maybe. Com where to close to the -- to see the trees -- whatever. Because everyone around here thinks this is one of the great World Series of all time because the good guys won. As a neutral observer where were you bored there wasn't a lot of offense and World Series. I would not support because most pretty game like it. -- a lot exemption. The outcome would really doubt about -- you know. That is basically we're not separated by more than two -- Cromartie or -- -- and I look at it. And have to be an oil painting games because they're great baseball from it one game at the outcome in doubt that's good I'm getting. It's important back and get back at the pace of the game. I don't know why I get that you know why well -- not -- done about where they can't continue to get longer and longer. Yet there's fewer and fewer. A lower court -- -- -- to participate in the big leagues out there has been PH forty years ago. Get -- -- forty minute longer though it clearly not action at king interview that he. Yeah I'm watching -- in the world period that I don't like I look back competitively. I thought about it all the interest. But -- -- I'm really am happy about goal. You know we talk about the next guy being the big game changer and I think we all agree that's needed to I guess my question is the guys the owners the people make this decision. Are they gonna put a guy in place who's gonna be open to making these kind of changes or -- gonna look at the tons of money baseball to bring in and -- our okay. Pat's victory like that probably can't get more black I don't think he'll say what -- -- -- colder days at. All I a couple of -- that connection or whoever it and I'll pick it clear puck better but. It will be comedy pretty inside somebody who knows how ownership work -- how the horse trading goes on in baseball worked. I don't think you're gonna turn over the cute pink and -- completely out you know what happened to pick at the where you might not want got a job learning how to think like -- airlines do realize. Is an -- -- approval -- and again. You've got all the old one -- can't I can't count her out pat and I hope you're picnic. You're watching your better. Actually you're not a complete command and you looked very quickly and. It's numbered Q what does that say to you what does it mean to you when rob Manfred a week and a half ago blast A-Rod unlike any other Major League Baseball official who has ever blasted a player before what does that mean. I thought they had become part of the level personal frustration not proud are about the waitress -- -- -- -- -- Pocket I'm technically they are not privy to what happened out there there -- coming up and the. Yeah because we got that out that you Marty -- he but it it up for. Colleges and I think we talked about as good about a month ago it looked like Iraq would like that any fight. I kept hearing that this was going to be working on it. That he would point out that -- was going to out. There it looked like he would probably try and connect to retrieve it in court. Budget and arbitration hearing a couple of months. Tom you were at the World Series and you've talked to the GMs and you saw the way it all unfolded do you think. The Red Sox and the way they did this the way they've built this team the way they put -- good character guys together kind of developed this chemistry would change the way some GMs look at -- some owners look at it because. You know they didn't go out and signed Josh Hamilton instead they went to Jonny Gomes and Mike Napoli and Shane Victorino and and and it just kind of all came together without real star power other than the guys incumbents -- -- and Pedroia will other teams try to do that try to put -- likable bunch on the on the field and hope to catch lightening in a bottle. To think about it because it worked so well I think it's easier what you make all built into. -- all worked very quickly. We have guys who want out or hectic here. Well they don't talk about the drop it say about all they may not locked -- BY because it didn't look. I really important guys to have one or two great guys and I think -- character a little bit overused term baseball IQ guys we block stretch -- Our top step of the dugout gold -- and again note good people and great baseball actually it was more important that our guys. Think I got a walk I think that the culture created spring training and I happened very quickly because -- got to know that the baseball can do that more power again the other thing I think it will copy and -- -- already. All contracts can surely. You can and I am average annual pay but the contract that you let. -- contract and -- bad example because I'm sure a lot out there. Trying to get short career computer he made him a little bit more per year daylight could -- 78 -- field. It's all I'm wondering if you -- out back to the bonus batter. Is more of an advantage in the National League where the pitchers seem to come up in big situations quite often in the game at least more often than fans would like. Vs the American League they don't. It is I think and I think that cook albeit -- do you -- that -- -- But late. Hit it it -- the World Series electorate can play solid contact and got the situation was a lot throughout. What would look -- -- -- -- -- like -- -- couldn't. So yeah I think that would explain it especially early in the game and actually. I think about the one Jake Peavy -- or he cannot or having it because -- trying camera about it order it without your. In the regular season actually get better and got it kick it to get it. By the Yankees sorry to judge -- the Yankees really give connote 22230. Million. I kept it close out that I. I did take a look at his seventh year that probably picked it played out here I think Utley and got it. He's dynamic hitter and -- talk about my contract. -- up thirty or middle infielders and got paid well partly due to get there. -- not much or did it get back at -- on my contract. They accurate -- aren't what they need to do it that you know -- -- -- -- -- TV network offense down. And how -- that you wouldn't do it at any minute but I think it will go the extra mile to get. To witness Brian McCann and a -- I don't get a great -- -- people -- feel. You know yankees Red Sox Rangers. It pretty good options are one of the American League and well. What Boris demand an -- Ellsbury. -- -- Great question. It -- a pretty good -- and chill. I -- what those member replied it probably under our flyer out of the contract. And got the giant. Without the leverage of free agent they can -- I'm sure. Got par and only eight it looked at bat and then guided the fertile market don't be great actor Q I'd. I'm Egypt are legal and getting out what the numbers fourteen through early play but. Our object I'd look it -- I'm content free agent -- we -- we connect rule. Don't expect Cote got beat yet or. You'll be surprised. How can knock the ball and let it wind up. He Sports Illustrated hot she -- about Sports Illustrated SI dot com and from now on gonna Culpepper do you ruled out the -- batter has as mark Robert -- as the -- you'll come. -- -- she would Jessica I'll on the AT&T outline AT&T the nation's fastest and now most reliable for GL EE.
